Pictures from NYC

August 18th – August 21st, I spent some time in New York City to celebrate the birthday of one of my closest friends.   I’ve always loved photography and have been stealing some pointers from Josh.   Here is my attempt at being a fancy photographer…  (Make sure to click on the photos to see a bigger image).

Diet Starts Today

This is where we were all weekend, celebrating Josh’s 37th birthday.  The weather was absolutely amazing – not a day over 75!  We spent the time relaxing and enjoying life before we dive back into a ton of more home remodel work!

Friday night we had some delicious lobster tacos at this great place called Pacific Fish.  They had tons of tasty local beer to drink and every type of fish you could imagine.  The idea for this restaurant was so cool!  You pick your fish of choice, then decide what marinade you want with it, then if you want it grilled or fried.  Then, you can choose whether you want it in a taco, sandwich, on a salad or on a plate (with some sides).  Yum yum yum!   Saturday we biked up and down the boardwalk all day long.  And of course, ate more tacos and drank more local beer.  Then Sunday, we met some friends up at Oceanside for lunch.  Can you guess what we ate?  Yup, we had more tacos and I switched it up and had a Mai Tai.  Then we went to Del Mar to catch the horsey races and stayed for the Ben Harper concert.  After the show, we went back to Pacific Fish and ate more tacos!   Hence the reason for the diet.  Mama stepped on the scale this morning and BAM – extra 4 lbs from the weekend were staring right back at me. :(

So… diet starts TODAY.  My goal is 7 lbs by Thanksgiving.  Totally doable.   I also have to get in shape for the Tough Mudder run on January 14th…. so now the best time to do it.  Wish me luck!

ChChChChChCHANGES

Every morning, as I’m walking into my office building, this modest white Chevy Cavalier station wagon is parked right outside the front entrance.  Now, I’m not really the biggest fan of bumper stickers.  I don’t have any on my car.   But if I was going to put one on, it would be something like this one above.  “We must be the change we wish to see in the world.”  No truer words have ever been said.    This puts a smile on my face every single morning and reminds me how I should face the day – being the best person I can be and making the right choices no matter what comes my way.
